——— ABOUT THE BRAND
What started as a children's book has grown into a global children's brand. Karina's four children are the driving force behind this children's brand, each with their own role within the family business.
She built it out of cardboard boxes and recycled materials and after 3 years of building the first Mouse Mansion was completed. In 2011 Karina's dream became a reality and the Mouse Mansion was photographed and the first book in The Mouse Mansion series was published: Sam en Julia.
Julia's apartment is largely based on Karina's childhood home - filled with love and creativity forms the foundation of the Mouse Mansion. As the daughter of a single mother, an immigrant from Indonesia. The loving atmosphere in their home was set in contrast to the outside world, where both Karina and her mother were discriminated against. With The Mouse Mansion, Karina has created the world of inclusivity and friendship that she wanted as a child.
