In 2014 Design Life Kids owner, Kim Wardell unexpectedly lost her husband and father of two young girls named Maya and Senna. Inspired by the experience that her children have had at grieving camps, this collection has been created in hopes of sponsoring other children who are in need of grief support. DLK is graciously accepting donations below or purchases from the "Designs for Charity" Collection can be made and all proceed will be donated to the wonderful non-profit organizations.
It costs approximately $1,300/per child to attend a week long session and DLK hopes to send as many children as possible this upcoming summer!
Circle Camps is a week long sleep away program designed to bring together daughters who have lost a parent. Together they build bonds and a community unlike any other while creating a lifelong positive impact.
Campers live in bunks with trained, volunteer counselors and participate in a unique schedule combining traditional camp activities and age-appropriate grief activities. Under the guidance of licensed professionals, the week offers several structured opportunities for campers to share and rework their stories of loss. Equally important to the Circle program are the spontaneous conversations – in the bunks, on walks down to the lake, during rest hour – that help campers feel supported and connected to each other.
