I'm super excited to announce that DLK now has a new contributing writer who I know you are going to love! You may recognize her from a post I wrote about her company HERE.
Meet Estela. She's a talented designer, entrepreneur, mother and interior design expert who will be sharing her favorite picks and tips about all things interior design and architecture. With a background and bachelor's degree in Interior Design from F.I.T, Estela left the demands of NYC office life when her daughter was born. She began to notice gaps in the furnishings market and started designing her own products. Three years later, Estela was named one of Oprah's "Women Who Make Beautiful Things" in "O" at Home magazine. Today she has teamed up with RoomMates to bring her fresh and innovative designs to life for both parent and children with her company, ONEdecor. You can keep up to date with Estela on her Facebook page, estela lugo + friends.
I asked her a few questions so you could get to know her better, here is what she shared...
Tell us a little about yourself.
I'm a NY girl, born and raised on Long Island by a devoted Puerto Rican family. I knew I wanted to do something creative from the minute I picked up my first crayon. I studied Interior Design at FIT, worked in a few design firms and was reunited with my inner design-child when my daughter was born. I am a constant daydreamer and new Yogi.
If you could transport anywhere right now with your kids, where would it be?
Just a few doors down. I tell my son and daughter that my favorite place in the world is snuggled in bed with them.
I find inspiration everywhere. My favorite designers are parentreneurs who find creative solutions to everyday challenges.
