Late one afternoon, the girls asked if we could bake something. We didn't plan it it, we all had a craving for something soft and sweet and delicious! So we looked in the refrigerator and pantry and realized we probably had enough ingredients to make homemade pound cake... with a twist. We had a few cups of our favorite multi-purpose Stonyfield Greek yogurt and remembered that we could use it to replace a bit of butter or heavy cream. So we adapted this recipe from Swans Down and added the soft tang of Greek yogurt. Yum!
The girls were GA-GA over this recipe! Baking a cake of any sort is always exciting, but when they heard they could drizzle chocolate or powdered sugar on top, it was mayhem. We baked this soft and moist recipe up just before dinner, so it could cool while we ate. Then after clean up, we drizzled chocolate (melt chips + milk/cream) and had at it! It may not look the prettiest (notice the girls had picked at the top), but it sure was good! I hope you'll embrace your cravings once in a while and test out this twist on the classic pound cake!
