LOCAL LIFE: Light At Longwood Gardens By Bruce Munro

Longwood Gardens is national public park known for it's incredible architecture and botanical and fountain displays. Located in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, the property boasts over 1,000 acres with 20 indoor and 20 outdoor gardens. The spaces are truly magnificent and admired by all members of our family. Each year, we purchase a family membership, it's a must have for us. The girls love walking around exploring the different sections. Their favorites include the Bee-aMazed Garden, Indoor Children's Garden, Tree houses and the Topiary Garden. The plants are always changing with the seasons and everything is so beautifully cared for.

This summer, Longwood Gardens worked with British artist and light designer, Bruce Munro to create a spectacular display called, Light. The displays are made with a variety of every day materials mixed with fiber optics and LED lights. It's quite a beautiful set up and should definitely be seen after the sun sets to get the full impact. My favorite was the Forest of Light: Forest Walk. This installation took me into a densely wooded area that I wouldn't normally visit. Inside are 20,000 illuminated glass spheres lining the pathways. Once I reached a section deep into the woods and took a look around, it was magical. Like I just stepped into a fairy tale.

Go see Light for yourself, it's only here for one more week though!
